How to file with the EEOC?

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) handles employment discrimination complaints. You are obligated to file the claim with the EEOC within 180 days of the date of discrimination. But it is important to quickly discuss your claims with an experienced Raleigh EEOC lawyer. You may have other claims with even shorter deadlines. And you may also live in an area with a local Human Rights Commission that processes claims. The EEOC complaint process

After the charge is filed with the EEOC, your employer will be notified within ten days. You may be asked to go to mediation, the employer may be investigated, or the claim may be dismissed. When the EEOC finds discrimination, you will be asked to participate in conciliation with the employer. You will likely be given a Notice of Right to Sue letter once the investigation is complete. Once the EEOC issues the Dismissal and Notice of Rights or Notice of Right to Sue (Form 161) you can file a federal claim. That claim must be filed in court within 90 days of the date you receive the notice. Other claims must be filed within 180 days.
